04/12/2015,09:49:04,briankennedy, Good Morning Everyone 04/12/2015,09:49:30,briankennedy,Apologies for this last minute change, but we changed our dive site for today to Pichincho. We will discuss whether to dive Guineo at a later date after we acquire higher resolution maps. 04/12/2015,09:52:36,briankennedy,There was submarine cable in close proxcimity to our porposed dive at El Guineo so we changed site overnight to give us more time to assess the hazards at that site 04/12/2015,09:53:01,briankennedy,Todays dive will target a deeper portion of an active fishing ground known locally as Pichincho. We will be diving from ~600 to 300 m depth.  This dive will hopefully provide important information on deepwater snappers and habitats. The Caribbean Fishery Management Council is also highly interested in the benthic fauna and habitats in this area. Launch time is still 0630 with an on bottom time of 0700. 04/12/2015,10:00:47,Tim Shank,Good morning All. 04/12/2015,10:03:50,Andrea Quattrini, morning Tim 04/12/2015,10:13:09,mikeford,Good Morning Everyone 04/12/2015,10:13:20,Andrea Quattrini,Good morning Mike 04/12/2015,10:28:41,Andrea Quattrini,15 min to ROV launch 04/12/2015,10:30:49,Tim Shank,Good morning Andrea. This dive will survey a deeper area of an active fishing ground for deepwater snapper. We will move from W to E at ~600 m and then head up a gradual slope. We will characterize habitats and benthic fauna in the area. Should be a great dive! 04/12/2015,10:46:26,amandademopoulos,morning EX 04/12/2015,10:46:42,Andrea Quattrini, good morning Amanda 04/12/2015,10:47:11,amandademopoulos,how are you, Andrea? 04/12/2015,10:47:29,Andrea Quattrini,Really good today. If you are looking for Eteline snappers, you'll never see them looking straight at the bottom. Need a see a bit more off the bottom perhaps by running tangential to the slope. Also would be better to spot lost anchor lines before you run into them, since we've seen a lot out here in Hawaii when surveying our deep water snapper fishery grounds. 04/12/2015,16:28:12,Taylor Heyl, crinoid down below? 04/12/2015,16:28:33,okexnav,LAT :18.37784, LON : -67.77683, DEPTH : 497.3109m, TEMP : 14.05563C, SAL : 35.86703 PSU, DO : 4.67577 mg/L 04/12/2015,16:28:52,michaelvecchione,GAS slit snail 04/12/2015,16:29:33,Taylor Heyl,ASR on sediment 04/12/2015,16:29:38,Taylor Heyl,FSH shark 04/12/2015,16:29:51,michaelvecchione,I am about a full minute behind you guys 04/12/2015,16:29:58,Andrea Quattrini,FSH shark C. asper 04/12/2015,16:30:13,Andrea Quattrini,NO Squalus cubensis 04/12/2015,16:30:31,Taylor Heyl,COR whip 04/12/2015,16:30:41,Andrea Quattrini,Sharl 0.5 m 04/12/2015,16:30:48,Andrea Quattrini,Shark 0.5 m 04/12/2015,16:31:35,Taylor Heyl,URC 04/12/2015,16:31:49,Taylor Heyl,FSH 04/12/2015,16:33:20,Taylor Heyl,ZOA 04/12/2015,16:33:30,Taylor Heyl,? 04/12/2015,16:33:34,okexnav,LAT :18.37776, LON : -67.77668, DEPTH : 492.7483m, TEMP : 14.08079C, SAL : 35.87502 PSU, DO : 4.67430 mg/L 04/12/2015,16:33:36,Andrea Quattrini,Gold Coral ZOA 04/12/2015,16:36:39,Taylor Heyl,URC 04/12/2015,16:37:42,Taylor Heyl, nice close up of URC 04/12/2015,16:37:43,Andrea Quattrini, feeding on SPO? 04/12/2015,16:38:15,Taylor Heyl,SHI mysid 04/12/2015,16:38:23,mikecheadle,Nice serios vwiw of D2 on ledge.. showing "staircase" topograhy 04/12/2015,16:38:34,okexnav,LAT :18.37778, LON : -67.77664, DEPTH : 490.6135m, TEMP : 13.98348C, SAL : 35.85733 PSU, DO : 4.64364 mg/L 04/12/2015,16:38:57,Taylor Heyl,SER on URC spine 04/12/2015,16:40:19,Taylor Heyl,COR whip 04/12/2015,16:40:29,Taylor Heyl,no visible associates 04/12/2015,16:41:19,Taylor Heyl, polyps all around COR whip 04/12/2015,16:42:02,Tim Shank,491m imaged whip coral - CORA 04/12/2015,16:43:03,Tim Shank,OPH on COR 04/12/2015,16:43:19,Taylor Heyl,Depth 490m 04/12/2015,16:43:35,okexnav,LAT :18.37769, LON : -67.77656, DEPTH : 490.6654m, TEMP : 14.08367C, SAL : 35.86880 PSU, DO : 4.67247 mg/L 04/12/2015,16:43:43,Tim Shank,There is another coral (purple) below the one we are imaging 04/12/2015,16:44:10,Taylor Heyl,CU of OPH on COR whip 04/12/2015,16:44:15,Andrea Quattrini,Asteronyx brittle star possible 04/12/2015,16:45:45,Taylor Heyl,FSH 04/12/2015,16:48:19,Andrea Quattrini,HYD? 04/12/2015,16:48:34,Taylor Heyl,CRA chyrostylid 04/12/2015,16:48:36,okexnav,LAT :18.37776, LON : -67.77654, DEPTH : 490.3205m, TEMP : 14.07022C, SAL : 35.86732 PSU, DO : 4.67598 mg/L 04/12/2015,16:48:44,Tim Shank,Positioning to look at what may be a HYD 04/12/2015,16:49:08,Tim Shank,Would guess COR given seeing to Chyrostylid associates… :-) 04/12/2015,16:49:36,Taylor Heyl,SHI 04/12/2015,16:49:38,Tim Shank,SHI associate(s) mysids 04/12/2015,16:50:15,Andrea Quattrini,Primnoid CORO 04/12/2015,16:50:22,Andrea Quattrini,CORO no clue.
