08/16/2013,11:13:27,briankennedy,we are preparing to launch its ROV Deep Discoverer for the final time this field season and it looks like a beautiful day for our last dive. Today’s dive was suggested by the USGS Marine Hazards Group to investigate a potential land slide feature in the inter-canyon area between Alvin and Nantucket Canyons. The ROV should be in the water by 0830 and we will leave the bottom around 1600EDT. 08/16/2013,11:46:32,iscwatch,Little bird on fan tail please help!! 08/16/2013,12:07:27,Taylor Heyl,Good morning Everyone! 08/16/2013,12:11:25,Tim Shank,Good morning explorers. 08/16/2013,12:11:33,Catalina Martinez, video feeds look good for the last dive of the season- and so does the weather! 08/16/2013,12:11:44,Tim Shank,Dive 15 08/16/2013, 08/16/2013,The purpose of this proposed dive is to investigate small recent(?) landslide debris deposits and scarps within a larger landslide scar on the upper continental slope, adjacent to two submarine canyons. The scientific rationale for this site is: 1) to determine if these small landslide debris features are relatively young and if they pose a hazard in terms of tsunami generation; 2) evaluate the long term stability of landslide scars and test hypotheses about their evolution, including the landslides role in canyon formation, and 3) attempt to develop a means of using biologic activity on the scarps and deposits as a means of determining relative ages of the features and the response of bottom communities to catastrophic events. The proposed transect has a dog-leg near the initial point in order to capture several different bottom types. 08/16/2013, 08/16/2013,Launch 08/16/2013,39 51.631 08/16/2013,-70 03.834 08/16/2013,903m 08/16/2013, 08/16/2013,WP1 08/16/2013,39 51.632 08/16/2013,-70 03.799 08/16/2013,902m 08/16/2013, 08/16/2013,WP2 08/16/2013,39 51.659 08/16/2013,-70 03.547 08/16/2013,849m 08/16/2013, 08/16/2013,WP3 08/16/2013,39 51.751 08/16/2013,-70 03.559 08/16/2013,862m 08/16/2013, 08/16/2013,WP4 08/16/2013,39 51.814 08/16/2013,-70 03.478 08/16/2013,857m 08/16/2013, 08/16/2013,WP5 08/16/2013,39 51.889 08/16/2013,-70 03.412 08/16/2013,846m 08/16/2013, 08/16/2013, 08/16/2013,12:12:10,Taylor Heyl,Dive codes: 08/16/2013,12:12:12,Taylor Heyl,BIO -
