NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer is currently pierside at her home port in North Kingstown, RI and preparing to get underway. We are slated to depart at 1200 Eastern today, and begin transit to our first ROV dive location - a dive southeast of Block canyon to investigate headwall scarps of a large landslide scar on the lower continental slope.

07/08/2013,23:00:03,kelleyelliott,Update from NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer. The current time onboard is 1855. We are currently underway and are transiting to our first ROV dive location. Tomorrow, June 9, we will launch the ROV at approximately 0830am for a dive to the east of Block Canyon to investigate headwall scarps of a large landslide scar on the lower continental slope.  The ROV is expected to arrive on bottom between 9:30-10:30am. A ship-to-shore science call is planned for 9:00 am EDT to review the plans and objectives for the dive.
