06/01/2013,11:58:32,briankennedy, Today we will be diving in South Toms Canyon and the ROV should be in the water between 0830 and 1000 EDT. The site is in an apparent land slide feature in 1700 meters of water. The multibeam back scatter for the area appears to indicate lots of hard ground too. During the dive the ROV is going do a transect up the wall of the of the failure.   06/01/2013,13:32:18,briankennedy,passing 1000 meters 06/01/2013,14:06:36,briankennedy,hodling at 1550 meters to troubleshoot an issue with the thrusters 06/01/2013,14:23:53,briankennedy,The ROV is on the way to the surface due to the thrusters issue. 06/01/2013,16:46:53,Tim Shank,Brian, I had a chance to go look at some of the framegrabs from this morning. I missed seeing the "tubes" live, but it seems to me they may be urchin spines or scaphopods. I did not see the presence of urchins in the area (only anemones), but given the "hard" bottom (crusty) substrate, I would think they might be urchin spines. Did you see urchins in the area during the dive? Thank you. 06/01/2013,17:47:29,briankennedy, The ROV dive was ended early to allow for some troubleshooting. For the rest of the day we will be transiting north and filling in holes from previous surveys.    06/01/2013,23:54:23,briankennedy,ROV launch for June 2 should be between 830 and 930 EDT 06/01/2013,23:55:56,briankennedy,The dive target is Nantucket canyon in 1700 meters
