05/31/2013,11:09:20,briankennedy, First thing this morning we will be conducting a small boat personnel transfer at Ocean City MD. The plan for the afternoon is to launch the ROV and dive on a gas seep site that we found last week with our multibeam sonar. 05/31/2013,13:35:21,briankennedy,The plan for the day is to deploy between 1400 and 1430. Then recover at 1830. 05/31/2013,18:53:45,briankennedy, After a couple days of engineering work the Okeanos Explorer just deployed its new ROV 60 nm east of Virginia. Today’s dive was identified last week during a multibeam survey.  The dive today will be devoted to evaluating modifications to the ROV’s thrusters and hydraulic system and hopefully characterizing the seep site. Due to the late start the dive is expected to be fairly short with an estimated recovery time of 1830 EDT. The dive site is in about 500 meters 05/31/2013,19:15:55,Santiago Herrera,FSH 05/31/2013,19:16:01,Santiago Herrera, look like eels 05/31/2013,19:17:33,Santiago Herrera, hundreds of small fish and crustaceans 05/31/2013,19:44:30,Santiago Herrera,CRA x2 05/31/2013,19:47:00,Santiago Herrera, several CRA Chaceon 05/31/2013,19:53:18,Santiago Herrera,CNI siphonophore 05/31/2013,20:07:46,Santiago Herrera, abundant nekton and plankton 05/31/2013,20:07:57,Santiago Herrera, small SHI, FSH 05/31/2013,20:08:05,Santiago Herrera,CNI siphonophores 05/31/2013,20:08:34,Santiago Herrera, murky water 05/31/2013,20:08:41,Santiago Herrera,CRA Chaceon 05/31/2013,20:30:00,michaelvecchione,snipe eel 05/31/2013,20:56:56,michaelvecchione,hake 05/31/2013,21:05:05,Santiago Herrera,ACN 05/31/2013,21:06:39,michaelvecchione,FSH 05/31/2013,21:08:18,briankennedy,So with the time remaining and the engineering requirements it does not look like we are going to be able to find the seep site 05/31/2013,21:15:16,Santiago Herrera,15+ CRA Chaceon 05/31/2013,21:15:25,Santiago Herrera, very interesting aggregation 05/31/2013,21:15:56,Santiago Herrera,SED 05/31/2013,21:20:49,Santiago Herrera,ACN x2 05/31/2013,21:21:51,Santiago Herrera, fishing net 05/31/2013,21:23:11,Santiago Herrera, more CRA 05/31/2013,21:23:13,Santiago Herrera,Chaceon 05/31/2013,21:24:19,michaelvecchione,Chaceon eating anemone 05/31/2013,21:26:37,Santiago Herrera, dozens of CRA Chaceon 05/31/2013,21:28:39,Santiago Herrera,ACN x2 05/31/2013,21:32:22,Santiago Herrera,CTE 05/31/2013,21:32:27,Santiago Herrera,ACN 05/31/2013,21:34:05,Santiago Herrera,ACN 05/31/2013,21:34:07,Santiago Herrera,CRA 05/31/2013,21:34:09,Santiago Herrera, multiple 05/31/2013,21:35:31,Santiago Herrera,CTE 05/31/2013,21:35:37,Santiago Herrera,ACN multiple 05/31/2013,21:35:57,Santiago Herrera, abundant shrimp and small fish in the water column 05/31/2013,21:36:39,Santiago Herrera,EEL 05/31/2013,21:41:27,Santiago Herrera,CNI siphonophore 05/31/2013,21:41:31,Santiago Herrera,ACN multiple 05/31/2013,21:42:09,Santiago Herrera,CRA Chaceon multiple 05/31/2013,21:42:52,Santiago Herrera,CNI siphonophore multiple 05/31/2013,21:45:24,Santiago Herrera,ACN CRA multiple 05/31/2013,21:45:32,Santiago Herrera,CNI siphonophores 05/31/2013,21:48:10,Santiago Herrera,FSH flounder 05/31/2013,21:48:34,Santiago Herrera,CNI siphonophore multiple 05/31/2013,ACN CRA multiple 05/31/2013,21:50:10,Santiago Herrera,CNI siphonophore multiple 05/31/2013,ACN CRA multiple 05/31/2013,21:51:14,Santiago Herrera,FSH flounder 05/31/2013,21:51:31,Santiago Herrera,CTE 05/31/2013,21:55:30,Santiago Herrera,CNI siphonophore multiple 05/31/2013,ACN CRA multiple 05/31/2013,21:56:54,Santiago Herrera, what I've being calling siphonophores may be salps 05/31/2013,21:57:07,Santiago Herrera, can't tell 05/31/2013,21:57:36,Santiago Herrera,CTE 05/31/2013,21:57:45,Santiago Herrera,ACN CRA multiple 05/31/2013, 05/31/2013,21:58:13,Santiago Herrera, shell pieces 05/31/2013,21:58:38,Santiago Herrera,CTE 05/31/2013,21:58:47,Santiago Herrera,ACN multiple 05/31/2013,21:59:09,Santiago Herrera,CAR 05/31/2013,21:59:15,Santiago Herrera, carbonates 05/31/2013,21:59:22,Santiago Herrera,CORO 05/31/2013,21:59:30,Santiago Herrera,ACN multiple 05/31/2013,21:59:45,Santiago Herrera, bubbles 05/31/2013,21:59:53,briankennedy,Bubbles!!!!
