We will be doing post dive test by then 2010-06-30 09:15:22 Okeanos Explorer Update from okeanos. To day, we have done our second dive to the location where the strong signal of plume where was detected yesterday. As we expected, we found the source of plume near about the summit of the ridge (about 1850 m depth or more). We found the unique lifes such as barnacles, shrimps crouding near the hydrothermal fluid flows and the melting sulfur. The ROV also acquired unique structures like sulfide chimney outcrop from the rocks. The ROV keeps transiting over the top of the ridge, from the north to the south, move down slope upto 1950 meters and move laterally to the west, expecting to find more plume source. But until the bottom time operation expired, ROV did not find another plume yet. Right now, we are waiting for the next dive plan for tommorow, regarding today's result. Anyway, thanks to all of you guys, enjoying the remarkable adventure for today. 2010-06-30 11:01:48 Okeanos Explorer Update from the Okeanos Explorer: local EX time is 1900.
