We have cancelled our aily science meeting for the day but will hold one tomorrow at 0900. We ar currently on our first CTD cast over the NW part of the summit of Kawio Barat. We plan to do 4 CTD casts in total today fter which we will resume mapping the EX2 box and return for ROV Ops at 0800 on June 29th local EX time. We plan to map another line to the east of our current mapping box while transiting north to be in position for ROV Ops at Kawio Barat. 2010-06-27 02:12:26 okeanosexplorer Update from the Okeanoes Explorer: local EX time is 1005. We have completed our first CTD cast over the NW part of the summit of Kawio Barat (Lat: 4 40.576' N Long: 125 5.117' E). We are currently in transit to CTD station #2 on the SE part of the summit. On CTD cast #1 we fired 6 Niskin bottles for water samples which will be shared between Indonesian and US scientists. We did not detect a strong plume signal in the ORP data, however, small temperature anomolies at 1740m and 1600m and a strong light scatter signal suggested the possibility of an anomoly. Two of the bottles were fired at 1200m to serve as a background water sample. 2010-06-27 02:58:14 okeanosexplorer Update from the Okeanos Explorer: local EX time is 1100. We are still in transit to CTD station #2 and expect to be in position shortly. The CTD is being towed at a depth of 1200m and a speed of approximately half a knot. 2010-06-27 04:01:03 okeanosexplorer Update from the Okeanos Explorer: local EX time is 1200. Wehave now completed CTD cast #2. There was no evidence of plume activity recorded by the LSS and ORP sensors however we detected 2 more temperature anomalies at 1650m and 1740m and fred 4 more Niskin bottles. We are now proceeding to CTD station #3, the CTD is being towed at a depth of 1200m and a speed of approximately half a knot. 2010-06-27 05:10:08 okeanosexplorer Update from the Okeanos Explorer: local EX time is 1300. We have now completed CTD cast #3, we saw some movement on the ORP sensor but nothing on the light scattering sensor. We fired two Niskin bottles for wate samples and we are now in transit to CTD station #4 on the eastern flank of Kawio Barat. 2010-06-27 09:12:57 okeanosexplorer Update from the Okeanos Explorer: local EX time is 1710.
